EXTT0=The controversy rages on:\n\nIs this a modern hit invented by\nLarr
EXTT0=y LaPrise in an Idaho ski lodge\nor a British dance with roots in
EXTT0= an\nancient Druid ritual showing\nfealty to a lord?\n\nAll dancers
EXTT0=form a circle, facing\nthe center.\n\n1. The singer will tell you
EXTT0=which body\nparts to "put in" to the circle and also when\nto turn
EXTT0= around.\n\n2. When the singers sing "Hokey Pokey"\nall dancers wa
EXTT0=ve their hands in the air as they\nbow to the center of the circl
EXTT0=e.\n\n3. During the sections of music with no\ninstruction, dancers
EXTT0= may dance "free style"\nin the center of the circle.
EXTT1=\nThis song, as we know it, is actually\nthe product of two tradit
EXTT1=ional songs\nfrom Mexico. The first, and most\nrecognized theme,
EXTT1="da-Dum-da-\nDum-da-Dum," is known as "La\nRapsa," so named for th
EXTT1=e scraping\nof the dancers feet (raspadura);\nthe other sections a
EXTT1=re from "Jarabe\nTapatio," the song to which the "Hat\nDance" real
EXTT1=ly belongs.\n\nAll dancers form a circle, facing the\ncenter, with
EXTT1=your hands on your hips.\n\nPart 1.
EXTT1= \n\n1. Standing in place, alternate kicking\nfeet out placing h
EXTT1=eels on the ground.\nright foot - left foot - right foot, then\nle
EXTT1=ft foot - right foot - left foot.\n\nRepeat step 1 three more time
EXTT1=s.\n\nPart 2.\n\n1. Lock elbows with a partner.\n2. Spin in a circle.
EXTT1=\n3. Switch partners.\n\nRepeat parts 1 and 2 until end of song.
EXTT1= \n
EXTT2=The title is from a famous 1960 movie\nstarring Melina Mercouri,
EXTT2=but the song\nis very old.  It is a Khasapiko, or sailor\ndance, a
EXTT2=nd until modern times it was\ndanced exclusively by men.\n\nMain Da

EXTT2=ght foot.\n\n(quickly shifting weight off right and holding\nit sli
EXTT2=ghtly off the ground in front of left foot.)\n\n(quick)\n5. Step ir
EXTT2=ght foot back to the right.\n6. Cross left foot in front of right
EXTT2= foot.\n\n(shifting weight to left foot).\n\n(slow)\n7. Step right fo
EXTT2=ot back into former position (step 5)\n\n(shifting weight back ont
EXTT2=o right foot)\n\n(quick)\n8. Rock forward on left foot\n9. Rock back
EXTT2= on right foot.\n\nRepeat until end of song.
EXTT3=Limbo Rock was another fun dance\nhit by twistmeister Chubby Chec
EXTT3=ker.\n"Limbo" comes from "limber", which you\ngotta be to go real
EXTT3=low.\n\n"Hand Jive," a big hit for Johny Otis, tells\nthe story of
EXTT3=another family made dysfunctional\nby dance. Its Bo Diddley "Sha
EXTT3=ve-and-a\nhaircut" beat is found in dance music all\nover the worl
EXTT3=d.\n\nLimbo Rock\nAll dancers form a single-file line.\n\n1. Two peop

EXTT3=, the pole will be lowered.\n4. Dancers who successfully make it

EXTT4=Now it can be told:\nDisco doesn't suck!\nJohn Travolta is a big s
EXTT4=tar\nagain and Van McCoy's\n"The Hustle" is ready to\ntake its plac
EXTT4=e among the\nworld's greatest group\ndances.\n\nThere have been many
EXTT4= variations of the Hustle.\nThe following are the basic movements
EXTT4=.\nYou may add to them as you wish.\n\nAll dancers stand side-by-si

EXTT7=The band once discovered \nJeffrey Barnes doing this dance all\nby

EXTT8=This is probably the most famous\nCuban song of all, and a marvel
